Northern Education

Governor

Governors play a critical role in the leadership of the nation’s schools and academies.

Northern Education is committed to the belief that governors are entitled to receive high quality support in the development of their oversight of a school’s objectives and leadership.

Governors will find here a quick guide to some of the key services we offer to schools, academies and college governing bodies.

Governors will be interested in every aspect of how their organisation operates but in the first instance we have highlighted some specific things:

In the Improvement section there are a whole range of services that offer consultancy, advice and practical help to schools and academies. Governors will find the Governance section a good place to start with both Training on the Ofsted Framework and Headteacher Performance Reviews. You may also be interested in how Northern Education can underpin improvement with a dedicated Achievement Partner and/or a whole school Developmental Review.

In the Leadership & Management section, which rounds up services available for all educational organisations, there is also a Governance section that adds training in Developing Effective Governance which introduces materials about the role of governors.

There is much more information relevant to governors elsewhere on the site so if your organisation is going through rapid change or you are setting up a free school or trust or transforming to an academy have a look at the Change Management section.

If improving teaching and learning is a priority then consult the Effective Classrooms section and if support is needed on other aspects of operations like HR, Marketing, Business Services or your Buildings & Infrastructure, you will find the Support Services section of interest.
